One thing that we will still buy in packet form is Beef Stroganoff. My partner loves it. I have been trying to find a Stroganoff recipe he would like to replace it so I could stop purchasing it but had no luck. I had given up.

I can thank my dearest friend Candice for this recipe. I remembered having this years ago and loving it so decided to experiment a bit and do it tmx style. Mine does vary ever so slightly just to add onion, garlic and paprika as we love those flavours here.

This recipe is mushroom-less as no one in this house is mushroom fans. You can certainly add sliced mushrooms or champignons to the mix when adding the sauce ingredients. My friend LOVES mushrooms so she adds lots to her Stroganoff.

Was very nice. The youngest said it was too “spicy” so next time will halve the pepper. We served it with pasta because the kids don’t like mash so added cornflour to thicken the sauce a bit.

This was a winner with my family (including my fussy 6 year old). I added half a red capsicum half way through onion cooking and some mushrooms toward the end to bump up the veg content. Was delicious.

I only had smoked paprika and it was fine.
