Key Lime Bliss Balls

Join us Everyone knows I love a good bliss ball recipe. Why? Because more often than not they are so easy to whip up and only require a handful of simple ingredients. You can whack in anything and hope for the best. Oh, and in a lot of cases they are pretty good for you too (well better than a chocolate bar!). Bliss balls are always a lunchbox staple around here. These Key Lime Bliss Balls are gluten, dairy and egg free! These do contain nuts but can be made using seeds in their place for a lunchbox friendly option. Im loving lime at the moment. So fresh! This have [...]

Chocolate Avocado Biscuits

Join us Yep! Chocolate Avocado Biscuits. My kiddies not only love these but have no clue there is their most hated vegetable, avocado, in them (ok I just learnt that avocados are actually a fruit! Oh the embarrassment!). These are egg and nut free and can even be made without gluten and dairy. Not bad huh!? These came about as a variation of the very popular Chocolate Chickpea Biscuits. I wanted to create something similar (a soft almost cake like biscuit) without the gluten for our gluten free folks (you can use GF flour in this recipe) and also the goodness of a hidden veggie (or surprise fruit) I am [...]

Apple Goji Bites

Join us I wasn't going to post this recipe as it is so basic but my kiddies (especially Mr 2) can not get enough. I thought "Lets post! Someone else may love them too!". My kiddies aren't fans of Goji berries so I was pondering how I could use up the big bag of them I bought. I was creating a different recipe for a top secret project (all will be revealed soon!) and then got sidetracked and created these. These make a great snack for the lunchboxes or when out and about. I keep a jar full of them in the fridge for easy snacks. I hope you like [...]

Fairy Bread From Scratch

Join us Happy Fairy Bread Day! I'm told today is the day to celebrate all things Fairy Bread. I cant say I am a huge fan of it myself by my partner and best friend love it so to celebrate I am posting my Fairy Bread From Scratch recipe. Well almost from scratch. I haven't made the 100's and 1000's. For those thinking "What on earth is Fairy Bread?". Its basically bread, smothered in butter and sprinkled with 100's and 1000's. So it might not sound delicious but for many this is  a staple at any birthday party. This recipe was created for The Party Issue of The 4 Blades [...]

Strapple Balls

Join us Strapple Balls? Yeah I know. Crazy name but memorable? Hmmm maybe not. Feel free to just call them Strawberry Apple Bliss Balls if you like. Regardless, these are delicious and Mr 7's absolute favourite lunchbox snack. He is forever asking me to whip up a batch. They are so incredibly easy and quick I can't help but say yes. These Strapple Ball's use store bought dried strawberries and apple rings. You can purchase these at Coles, health food shops and some food markets. You can purchase preservative free versions however they are hard to find. You can use your own homemade dried fruit. Ensure you keep some moisture [...]

Healthy Coloured Popcorn

Join us We are celebrating 1 year of The 4 Blades Mag! What an exciting 12 months it has been. We celebrated by creating a party issue full of your favourite party recipes! A favourite childhood party treat was coloured popcorn. Unfortunately they are often loaded with A LOT of refined sugar (45g per 100g of coloured popcorn. Now I love sugar. I'm not going to lie but that's a lot!) and artificial colours etc which isn't always fab for a kiddies party. Here is the  ingredient list in common brands: Sugar, Popcorn 43%, Glucose Syrup, Vegetable Oil, Artificial Flavours, Colours (102, 110, 122, 133). My ingredient list? Popcorn, coconut [...]

White Chocolate Muffins

I LOOOOOOVE white chocolate anything. Seriously love it. I always loved Easter time growing up as I was always given a white chocolate rabbit from the Easter Bunny. Some years I would gobble it all up within a day or two (keeping in mind I was a child. As an adult that bunny would have vanished in 2 seconds flat!) but then sometimes I would take a little nibble each day and make it last weeks.  I really can't enough of white chocolate (can you tell?) so it was only natural I include it in my muffins! Good ol' muffins. These are one of my go to recipes when [...]

Mini Donut Balls

Last week I brought to you my Banana Bread Bites recipe which was created with the help of a Cake Pop maker. Well I decided I should probably provide more recipes using the same machine  to give you real value for money out of your machine. These are similar to my Cinnamon Donuts recipe that I recently tweaked and improved. If you have saved that recipe somewhere I suggest updating it when you get a moment. The new recipe is even better! This are best served warm but make for  great party food or lunchbox filler. Just serve the day of making them to ensure they are soft and fluffy. [...]

Three Minute Apple Crumble Balls

These delicious Three Minute Apple Crumble Balls are a recipe from The Healthy New Year Issue of The 4 Blades Magazine. I have tweaked the recipe slightly since then and thought I would pop it up on the blog for everyone to enjoy! (If you haven't seen The Healthy New Year Issue of the mag you are missing some fab recipes by some amazing contributors - 5:2 recipes, raw recipes, paleo recipes etc). These are great to whip up when you are short on time and need a quick snack or lunchbox filler. We absolutely adore them!!! We have them down to a fine art now. Give us three minutes [...]

Two Ingredient Muesli Bars

It really doesn't get much easier than this! These are my "EEK! There in nothing left in the pantry for the lunchbox and I need to make something" go to recipe. I thought that name may be a bit too long as a title on the blog post and recipe card so shortened it to Two Ingredients Muesli Bars. You are welcome. What I love about these is they are so very versatile. You can use any toasted muesli that you have in the pantry. If you can't have nuts in your house or school simply use a nut free version. Want extra fruit? Use a fruit filled muesli. You [...]

Peanut Butter Honey Bites

Well it doesn't get much easier than this! If your school allows nuts this makes for a really quick and yummy lunchbox treat or even party snack for nut lovers. These are quite similar to my Chewy Peanut Butter Bars however I have tweaked them and made them a tad more healthy and bite size. Everything tastes so much better in bite size don't you think? NOTE: Some people have had issues melting this in certain Thermo Mixers. I highly recommend using the non thermo version to avoid any fails.  Love this recipe? Banana Bread Bites

I love doing something a little bit fun with food. It always amazes me that the minute I put something in bite or ball form the kiddies devour it. Mr 7 yr old hates bananas. He can sniff them out from a mile away and will very rarely eat something containing it. Now these Banana Bread Bites he loved. I don't get it!? These have been a huge hit in our house. So much so my partner even Facebooked a picture of them and mentioned how fab they were. Now when he posts something on Facebook it must be good! I freeze these in lots of two for the kiddies [...]

Pineapple Carrot Muffins

The other day we decided to make some muffins and thought we would play around with flavours a little. These little Pineapple Carrot muffins are quite similar to my Apple Pumpkin Cakes in terms of savoury and sweet flavours. Surprisingly you can barely taste the carrot. These taste like delicious pineapple muffins with a hint of vanilla and cinnamon. Some of my other muffin recipes: 90 Mini Muffin Bites Apple Crumble Muffins Apple Pumpkin Cakes Banana and Milo Muffins  Banana Honey Muffins Chocolate Carrot Muffins Chocolate Zucchini Muffins Choc-nana Muffins  Freezer Muffin Mix Lemon and Chia Muffins  Raspberry Coconut Muffins Don’t miss a thing! Peanut Butter Choc Chip Biscuits

Peanut butter biscuits have always been popular. I remember having these as a kid in my lunchbox. I have to admit I don't make them as much as I used to because they aren't lunchbox friendly. When I do make them the kids are thrilled. They are massive peanut butter lovers. With a handful of ingredients my version - Peanut Butter Choc Chip Biscuits - are sure to please. Delicious and budget friendly. These are so easy and great to whip up before someone pops over for coffee (just make sure they aren't allergic!). Other biscuit recipes you may like: 2 Ingredient “Cookies” Almond Buttons Banana, Peanut Butter and [...]

My Ultimate Thermomix Lunchbox Guide

Note: This Guide replaces my Ultimate Lunchbox Resource that was previously on the blog.   Lunchboxes are something I get quite excited about. I don’t know why but it is something I get a kick out of. Crazy I know. I can appreciate that lunchbox ideas are often hard. We end up repeating the same thing day in and day out, not that children mind all that much I’ve found. It’s always good to add some variety though. I’ve created this guide for you to make lunchbox filling just that little bit more easy but also fun and to encourage children being involved in the process. This booklet has [...]

Coconut Lime Pikelets

This is a recipe that was featured in my 2015 Calendar and it has been so popular I thought I would pop it on the blog as well. Who wouldn't love Coconut Lime Pikelets!? Pikelets are such an easy thing to make and great to get the kiddies involved in. What I love about this recipe is it is very forgiving so if you accidentally add a little extra milk or flour all will be ok. You can certainly increase or decrease the flavours in this to suit your tastes. These Coconut Lime Pikelets are great to wrap and freeze in individual serving portions. Simply pop out and thaw [...]

Choc Carrot Muffins

We love muffins here. I love making a big batch and popping into the freezer for lunchboxes throughout the following month. My Chocolate Zucchini Muffins are a huge hit here but I thought I would try them with carrot and a touch of spice. The kiddies are hge fans of these and have no idea there is hidden goodness http://www.trtlmt.com.au/wp-admin/post.php?post=9512&action=editin these. Looking for more ways to sneak in some veggies? Have a read of my Hidden Vegetable Meals and Tips for children (and husbands) resource. These are great for the lunchbox. Make a batch the night before, store in an airtight container in the fridge and take to school or work the next day. You can certainly vary the fillings inside to suit your tastes.
