Double Chocolate Hot Cross Buns

Join us A Double Chocolate Hot Cross Bun pull apart? It doesn't get much better this for Easter breakfast or brunch!  This recipe is based of my popular Hot Cross Buns recipe from 2014. This recipe does not have any bread improver in it. If I'm making bread for friends and don't want to risk it being a flop I'll add just a little in. If you want to ensure you have nice soft fluffy hot cross buns I recommend adding 2 teaspoons of bread improver along with the flour. See my bread tips here. Looking for some other delicious hot cross goodies? Try my Hot Cross Loaf or Hot [...]

Bunny Biscuits

Join us Confession: I wish I was an awesome biscuit decorator but I am not (can you tell?). I've always admired decorated biscuits and in awe of peoples talent. Maybe I should do a course and see if I can improve my skills. They can't get any worse right?... right? These Bunny Biscuits are so incredibly easy to make and decorate that they are a great activity for the kiddies over the long weekend (and current school holidays for some). You don't need any fancy equipment (ok so that's probably where I am going wrong. In my defense my piping bag broke) and no fancy ingredients. This is a fun [...]

Caramel Filled Easter Eggs

Join us This is the first recipe of my Easter Week - a week full of Easter recipes for the whole family. I love this recipe because it is 5 ingredients, a few quick steps and something you can whip up in 30 minutes before heading to an event or needing a last minute gift. For these I have used a caramel flavoured egg. Who doesn't love caramel right? But my other favourites are Turkish Delight and peppermint filled eggs. Oh my goodness they are delicious. This recipe is based off my Mars Bar Balls I made in 2013 that were insanely popular. It reached over a million people the [...]

Appletana Balls

Join us My kiddies love bliss balls or anything bite size. These are one of their absolute faves along with my Apple Crumble Balls and Mini Fruit Balls. Being gluten, dairy, egg and nut free they make a great addition to the lunchbox or play date.  People of often ask where they can get preservative free apple rings. I have recently found them at Costco. Organic preservative free apple rings. Now they are a bit browner and unappealing compared to other store bought ones but taste just the same! Other ball recipes: Strapple Balls Apple Crumble Balls Apple Peach Pie Balls Mini Fruit Balls Key Lime Bliss Balls Love this [...]

Chocolate Avocado Biscuits

Join us Yep! Chocolate Avocado Biscuits. My kiddies not only love these but have no clue there is their most hated vegetable, avocado, in them (ok I just learnt that avocados are actually a fruit! Oh the embarrassment!). These are egg and nut free and can even be made without gluten and dairy. Not bad huh!? These came about as a variation of the very popular Chocolate Chickpea Biscuits. I wanted to create something similar (a soft almost cake like biscuit) without the gluten for our gluten free folks (you can use GF flour in this recipe) and also the goodness of a hidden veggie (or surprise fruit) I am [...]

Apple Goji Bites

Join us I wasn't going to post this recipe as it is so basic but my kiddies (especially Mr 2) can not get enough. I thought "Lets post! Someone else may love them too!". My kiddies aren't fans of Goji berries so I was pondering how I could use up the big bag of them I bought. I was creating a different recipe for a top secret project (all will be revealed soon!) and then got sidetracked and created these. These make a great snack for the lunchboxes or when out and about. I keep a jar full of them in the fridge for easy snacks. I hope you like [...]

Chocolate Hazelnut Cheesecake

Join us A few weeks ago we moved house. Oh my gosh I hate nothing more than moving house. Once we were all done we celebrated the move with a BBQ. Now BBQs I love. My amazing best friend is a great cook! She was in charge of dessert. She bought over the most indulgent, delicious choc hazelnut cheesecake. Recipe adapted and tweaked from here. I'm not kidding when I say this is indulgent! This will easily serve 10-12 people as you only need a sliver. Trust me. If I say you only need a tiny sliver, you only need a tiny slither. My other cheesecake recipes: Apple Crumble Cheesecake [...]

Healthy Coloured Popcorn

Join us We are celebrating 1 year of The 4 Blades Mag! What an exciting 12 months it has been. We celebrated by creating a party issue full of your favourite party recipes! A favourite childhood party treat was coloured popcorn. Unfortunately they are often loaded with A LOT of refined sugar (45g per 100g of coloured popcorn. Now I love sugar. I'm not going to lie but that's a lot!) and artificial colours etc which isn't always fab for a kiddies party. Here is the  ingredient list in common brands: Sugar, Popcorn 43%, Glucose Syrup, Vegetable Oil, Artificial Flavours, Colours (102, 110, 122, 133). My ingredient list? Popcorn, coconut [...]

Apple Crumble Cheesecake

Join us This morning I released my 2016 TRTLMT Calendar. How exciting! It is even bigger and better than last years and this time I ordered plenty so we don't run out in 45 minutes like last year. The 2016 TRTLMT Calendar showcases 38 of the most popular recipes from the blog, a few that you may have missed or forgotten about and lots of brand new recipes – 15 in fact! One of the new recipes featured in the calendar is my Apple Crumble Cheesecake. This was inspired by a friend who adores apple crumble and adores cheesecake. I thought  to myself, "why not combine the two?". So here [...]
