I saw a picture for something similar on Pinterest the other day but there was no recipe or flavour suggestions so thought Id recreate it. I love experimenting with dough and doing different things with it. Its so adaptable and versatile.

I made this to go alongside pizzas but it would be great to dip in soup. Just rip off strips , dip and eat. Yum!

You could vary the flavours. Bacon would work well, spring onion or semi dried tomato. Even just some olive oil, rosemary and salt.

Make a large one to share or small ones for individuals or lunchboxes.

Parmesan Garlic Bread Wheel

  • Total Time: 30 minutes

Description

Great as a tear and share side or to dip into soups.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough

  • 220g lukewarm water
  • 375g bakers flour
  • 1.5 teaspoons yeast
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1.5 teaspoons of bread improver, optional

Topping

  • 50g parmesen cheese, cubed
  • 2 garlic cloves, peeled
  • 1 teaspoon sweet paprika

Instructions

  1. Add the dough ingredients in this order: water, yeast, flour, improver, salt.
  2. Blitz on speed 7 for 10 seconds to roughly combine.
  3. Knead for 6 mins.
  4. Remove dough and place into a lightly oiled bowl. Cover with cling film and place into a warm spot. I use the front seat of my car or a warmed oven.
  5. Leave this to rise for approximately an hour or until doubled.
  6. Meanwhile place garlic and cheese into bowl.
  7. Blitz on speed 7 for 6 seconds or until fine. Set aside.
  8. Preheat oven to 180 degrees.
  9. Remove dough from bowl.
  10. Break off balls of dough and roll into a sausage shape. Form into a snail shape. Roll another sausage shape. With each sausage shape work it around the centre “snail”. This is much easier then rolling your whole dough out at once and allows for even cooking as there will be some slight gaps.
  11. Allow to rise for another 15-30 minutes if time allows.
  12. Sprinkle with cheese mixture and sprinkle sweet paprika over the top.
  13. Bake for approximately 30 minutes.

Notes

  • I did grate a little extra parmesan cheese over the top using a fine grater just for visual effect. This isn’t essential.

This is amazing! And my daughter loves to help me make the “snakes” to make the “snail”. Thanks for another great recipe! I might have to try it with sun-dried tomatoes and bacon next time 🙂
