This may be my new favourite snack! Delicious chocolately goodness with a secret ingredient – chickpeas! Even kidney beans work a treat! Who would have thought.

This is a great party food or slightly healthier dessert. I use 70%+ dark chocolate for this recipe. If you do not like dark chocolate you can use milk chocolate. The dark will give it a much stronger chocolate flavour so just keep that in mind.

It is best consumed straight away. You can refrigerate it but it will firm up so you will need to add a little milk and give it another mix. This can be made as firm or runny as you like. Simply vary the amount of milk used.

Chocolate Hommus

Ingredients

Scale
  • 200g 70% dark chocolate or chocolate of choice
  • 400g can chickpeas or kidney beans, drained and rinsed well
  • 2 Tbsp honey, can omit if the chocolate is sweet enough
  • 1 tsp vanilla bean paste or vanilla
  • 12 Tbsp milk of choice, can be DF

Instructions

Then mix like this

  1. Add chocolate to bowl. Speed 8 / 4 seconds. Scrape down sides.
  2. Cook 5 minutes / 60C / Speed 2. Pour out into a bowl.
  3. Add chickpeas to bowl. Speed 8 / 4 seconds. Scrape down. Repeat.
  4. Add chocolate and remaining ingredients. Speed 6 until well combined and no large clumps. Drizzle in a little extra milk if you prefer it thinner.
  5. Serve with strawberries or fruit of choice.

Then cook like this

  1. Add chocolate to a microwaveable bowl. Melt on Medium heat for 1.5 minutes. Cook until melted.
  2. Add chickpeas to food processor. Process on High for 5 seconds. Scrape down sides. Repeat.
  3. Add chocolate and remaining ingredients. Process on High until well combined and no large clumps. Drizzle in a little extra milk if you prefer it thinner.
  4. Serve with strawberries or fruit of choice.
