Golden Syrup Dumplings – Traditional and TMX Method

  • Author: The road to loving my Thermomix
  • Total Time: 25 minutes

Description

Golden Syrup Dumplings are a lovely dessert for those cold cold nights that is not only easy but so budget friendly. Combine these with some vanilla ice cream or custard for a simple but delicious dessert when guests pop over.

Ingredients

Scale

Dumplings

  • 150g self raising flour
  • 60g cold butter, cubed
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 130g milk

Sauce

  • 500ml water
  • 80g sugar
  • 5 Tbsp golden syrup

Instructions

  1. Place self raising flour (150g) and butter (60g) into bowl. Speed 6/8 seconds. You want to combine the butter into the flour to form a breadcrumb type consistency. If you do not have a Thermomix simply combine in a bowl and rub the butter into the flour with your fingertips.
  2. Add sugar (1 tsp) and milk (130g).
  3. Speed 4 until just combined. Do not overmix or your dumplings will be dense. If you don’t have a Thermomix simply add the sugar and milk to teh flour butter mixture and stir to just combine.
  4. Roll a tablespoon of mixture into a ball. Repeat for the remaining dough. Leave dumplings to rest whilst you prepare the sauce.
  5. Place water (500g), sugar (80g) and golden syrup (5 Tbsp) into a large saucepan over medium heat.
  6. Stir to dissolve the sugar. Bring to the boil.
  7. Place dumplings gently into the sauce.
  8. Turn down heat to a simmer and cook for 10-15 minutes until dumplings are cooked through.
  9. Serve with ice cream, cream or custard.
