Description
Making your own tomato paste at home is a breeze!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1kg halved fresh tomatoes or 3 x 400g diced tinned tomatoes
- 500g roasted capsicum strips or halves
- 2 garlic cloves, peeled
- 1 teaspoon of herbamare salt, or salt
- 20g olive oil, or use oil from the roasted capsicum jar if applicable
Instructions
- Place everything into bowl.
- Blitz on speed 7 for 4 seconds.
- Place steaming basket on top of the lid to avoid splatters.
- Cook at steaming temperature, speed 2 for 40 minutes.
- At the 40 minute mark check your paste. If using tinned tomatoes your paste does thicken up slightly quicker I find so 40 minutes should be fine.
- If you would like it much thicker like store bought paste, continue to cook at steaming temperature on speed 2 for up to another 20 minutes.
- Each batch will differ slightly in time depending on how juicy your tomatoes are.
- Once finished cooking, blitz your paste on speed 10 for 30 seconds.
- Store in the fridge once cooled or freeze.
- I find this is enough for 6-8 pizza bases.

- You may know steaming temperature as Varoma temperature if you own a Thermomix.
