Description

The mince is something you can freeze and reheat for those nights you need a quick dinner. It doesn’t take too long to prepare veggies. You could have dinner on the table in less than 10 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 onion, peeled and quartered
  • 2 garlic cloves, peeled
  • 10g oil, peanut or sesame works well in this dish
  • 500g good quality beef or pork mince
  • 45g soy sauce
  • 50g oyster sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon of pepper
  • 12 baby cos lettuce heads, leaves pulled apart
  • 2 carrots, thinly sliced
  • 100g bean sprouts
  • 4 shallots/spring onions, thinly sliced on a diagonal

Instructions

  1. Place onion and garlic into bowl.
  2. Blitz on speed 7 for 5 seconds. Scrape down.
  3. Add oil.
  4. Cook at 100 degrees for 4 minutes, speed 2.
  5. Add mince in large clumps.
  6. Cook at 100 degrees, reverse, spoon soft, 5 minutes.
  7. Using your spatula, stir the meat around in the bowl to ensure even cooking. Break up any huge clumps of meat.
  8. Add pepper and sauces.
  9. Cook at 100 degrees, reverse, spoon soft, 7 minutes.
  10. I find 12 minutes in a hot tmx to be enough to cook the mince and stop it from turning to mush. If it is still slightly pink cook for a few minutes extra.
  11. Serve a tablespoon or two of mince in lettuce cups, top with vegetables and sliced shallots.
  12. Serve.

Notes

  • Serve mince mixture over rice and top with sliced veggies if preferred.
