Who are Zip Pops?

Zip Pops is an Australian family owned business based in Newscastle, NSW. They started in 2013.

Zip Pops was created as an alternative to store bought ice blocks. As we know, many store bought ice creams and ice blocks are full of additives and preservatives which a lot of families are trying to avoid or cut down. With Zip Pops you make your own treats and know exactly what is in them. Your imagination can run wild with a variety of juice, milk, yoghurt and alcohol based ice treats.

Whilst these are not designed as reusable many people will simply wash and dry these to use over and over again. Because they are very cost effective I tend to use the once only.

All Zip Pops also have a printed “Fill” line on them to avoid overfilling and mess.

Zip Pops are BPA free and seal using a ziplock feature.

Uses:

It really is as simple as filling with your favourite ingredients and juices then freezing.

  • Juice your favourite fruits and pour straight into the Zip Pop tube using a funnel or jug. A favourite in our house is watermelon.
  • Fill with your favourite ice cream or custard recipe. Add blueberries or other fruits for a yummy twist.
  • These are great to make alcohol pops (for the adults of course).
  • Pour leftover smoothies in these and freeze for a yummy treat.
  • Great for freezing leftover fruity dream and sorbet.

They aren’t just for the freezer though! Set your jelly in these or pour yoghurt in for an easy yoghurt tube for the kiddie’s lunchbox. I store sultanas and nuts in mine when out and about. I have also been known to store some leftover bulk spices in them. They are clearly labelled and just sit upright in a square container. So easy and accessible.

You can of course think outside of the box to non food uses like storing suncream and cream when out and about. Simply squeeze out what you need and reseal. The possibilities are endless.

To eat, simply open the seal and push your ice block up.

Recipes:

Zip Pops have a range of recipes on their site that are ideal for Zip Pops. They also have an e-book for purchase filled with vegan, paleo and gluten free recipes written by Leanne Vogel. How great is that!?

Zip Pops is also on Pinterest and has lots of great ideas there.
