Baby’s First Porridge: Apple and Peach

This may not look appealing but my 5 month old loooooooves this.   Use any fruit you like! I posted my Apple and Pear version earlier this week.    This can be freezed as it thaws and reheats nicely. I'd needed add a few drops of cooled boiled water when reheating to thin it slightly.    The consistency can be easily thinned with a little cooled boiled water or thickened with more oat cereal. Each baby's preference on consistency can differ. Tweak this to suit your baby.    You can cook the oat cereal and fruit all at once but I find it goes too gluggy.    I make batches [...]

Baby’s First Porridge: Pear and Apple

I'm having lots of fun experimenting with baby foods for my 5 month old. He has only just started so its fairly basic at the moment.    This can be freezed as it thaws and reheats nicely. I'd needed add a few drops of cooled boiled water when reheating to thin it slightly.    The consistency can be easily thinned with a little cooled boiled water or thickened with more oat cereal. Granola Cookies

I recently made some granola which is delicious! I can't wait to use it up as I have so many flavour combos I want to try. I thought I would use some to make cookies! Delicious and soooooo easy. This will be a staple here. For those mummies who eat lactation cookies these are a great alternative. Add 2 tablespoons of linseed meal and 2 tablespoons of brewers yeast to the mixture. Just some of my granola recipes: Honey Nut Maple Cinnamon Apple and Cinnamon Fruit and Nut Granola   I converted and tweaked this recipe.

Apple Cinnamon Granola

This is one of my most favourite things to do lately.    There is something very therapeutic about something slowly toasting away and stiring it every so often. Watching the transformation from oats to a delicious granola is exciting! (I need a life dont I!?!) Cinnamon Scroll Pancakes

I blame you all for this one! I started a Pinterest account so I could pin some recipes there for you (slowly getting my head around how it works!). I stumbled across a photo of Cinnamon Scroll Pancakes and thought I'd give them a whirl as my partner loves cinnamon more than he loves oxygen.   I used one of my basic pancake recipes for this and experimented with the swirl. It took a bit of experimenting to get the perfect swirl but I did it. Success!!!   These pancakes are so light and fluffy and the swirl is delicious. The family happily gobbled these up.    This is a [...]

Nutella Pancakes

Not the healthiest of breakfasts but a yummy treat for Christmas morning. I serve these without any toppings and just fresh fruit. Strawberries work well. For a little indulgence add some whipped cream. The kiddies love these.  Due to the nutella, they are a little denser than regular pancakes I find.   Some pancake/pikelet inspiration: Banana Honey Pikelets Cinnamon Oat Pancakes Cinnamon Scroll Pancakes Nutella Pancakes   Oven Pancake Bites with Honey and Cinnamon

Honey Nut Granola

I've caught the granola bug! Last week I made a Maple Cinnamon Granola so today I thought I'd experiment with new flavours. This is a fruitless version shown. I have added 400g sultanas and 100g diced dried apricot to the mixture since the picture was taken as my partner loves the added fruit. I love this because it's so much cheaper than store bought cereals, healthier and it's very filling. My partner finds it fills him up until lunch time. Maple Cinnamon Granola

My partner eats cereal by the bucket load and sadly for my budget he has expensive tastes. In a bid to save some money and also eat healthier I thought I would make my own Granola. I love that I know exactly what is in this and I have saved a lot of money. It cost me $8.25 to make just shy of 2.5kg of the mix compared to $4 for $620g of the store bought variety. I could do it even cheaper by buying ingredients from Costco and health food store.    Some of my other granola recipes: Apple Cinnamon Granola   Apricot and Coconut Granola Fruit and Nut [...]
