Easter Chocolate Bark

Join us  This Easter Chocolate Bark is so easy to make. It makes for a great Easter gift! Just place into cellophane bags and tie with a little string or ribbon with a cute card. You can vary the decorations to suit what you have at home. I just raided the cake decorating basket to see what odds and ends I have. Any small lollies, sprinkles, chocolates, nuts or dried fruit will work.  It is a great school holiday activity too!  When I originally made this I made it in the shape of a big Easter egg. The kiddies had great fun breaking it up and placing it into little bags. [...]

This recipe does not have any bread improver in it. If I'm making bread for friends and don't want to risk it being a flop I'll add just a little in. Bunny Biscuits

Join us Confession: I wish I was an awesome biscuit decorator but I am not (can you tell?). I've always admired decorated biscuits and in awe of peoples talent. Maybe I should do a course and see if I can improve my skills. They can't get any worse right?... right? These Bunny Biscuits are so incredibly easy to make and decorate that they are a great activity for the kiddies over the long weekend (and current school holidays for some). You don't need any fancy equipment (ok so that's probably where I am going wrong. In my defense my piping bag broke) and no fancy ingredients. This is a fun [...]

Caramel Filled Easter Eggs

Join us This is the first recipe of my Easter Week - a week full of Easter recipes for the whole family. I love this recipe because it is 5 ingredients, a few quick steps and something you can whip up in 30 minutes before heading to an event or needing a last minute gift. For these I have used a caramel flavoured egg. Who doesn't love caramel right? But my other favourites are Turkish Delight and peppermint filled eggs. Oh my goodness they are delicious. This recipe is based off my Mars Bar Balls I made in 2013 that were insanely popular. It reached over a million people the [...]

Hot Cross Loaf

Join us   This is something a little different to the usual hot cross buns. This would be yummy freshly baked on Easter morning. You can let the mixture rise overnight in the fridge, knock down in the morning and rise for another 30-45 minutes before baking. Fresh is best though I find with bread.   This recipe does have bread improver in it. If I'm making bread for friends and don't want to risk it being a flop I'll add just a little in. Perfect soft fluffy bread every time! The key to having this nice and soft is to knead for 6 minutes, double rise and bread improver. [...]

Hot Cross Buns

Join us   This week I have posted my Hot Cross Loaf and Hot Cross Cookie recipes but this was my first ever attempt at Hot Cross Buns. I looked at a variety of recipes and came up with this one to suit our  tastes.   This recipe does not have any bread improver in it. If I'm making bread for friends and don't want to risk it being a flop I'll add just a little in. If you want to ensure you have nice soft fluffy bread I recommend adding 2 teaspoons of bread improver along with the flour. See my bread tips here.   Love this recipe? Subscribe [...]

Easter Biscuits

I looooove these! I just think they look so cute and are a nice present for those who do not eat chocolate. Place them into a gift box or cellophane bag with some twine and a little tag or card.    These have a hint of lemon in them however you could leave it out or add a different flavoring. The dough is very versatile. I've used zest but you could use essence or oils.    I have finally mastered the right dough for press style cutters. My method and tips are below.

Hot Cross Cookies

Join us   I don't really like hot cross buns (crazy right?). I don't really like sultanas. I don't really like spice generally. This was going to be an epic fail but had to try it regardless. Yum-o! I'm not going to admit how many of these little babies I've eaten tonight (and how many sultanas I've picked out!). These are a deliciously soft cookie with a good kick of spice.    You could leave the sultanas out if you like or substitute easily with choc chips. You can add a sugar glaze over the top if you like for a nice shine. Simply combine 1 tablespoon each of sugar [...]

Easter Chocolate Nests

Join us   These are a perfect little gift for Easter! I make these up, wrap in cellophane and a little ribbon as a little gift to people. They are super easy but look effective! They have always been a hit especially with children. When making  these for children I use a mini muffin case and only two little eggs. You can vary the chocolate used. I use pre toasted coconut that I toasted in the oven prior. I find this easier and quicker than my tmx. You don't have to toast it. I just find its nicer. You may need a little extra coconut if you want them less [...]
